Last week we decided to do a long day trip with our first stop being Anaheim, California. The purpose of the trip to Anaheim was to stop at the office of Hughes Autoformers. John had purchased a used Autoformer on Uncle Henry’s before we left on this trip. He had confirmed with the person selling it that it was in good working order. Unfortunately when we plugged it in after arriving in Palm Springs it was not working. Lucky for us the corporate office for Hughes is in Anaheim and just 1.5 hours away. We called them up and made an appointment to get our device looked at.
So, what is an Autoformer? I am not an electrician so I will do my best to describe why having one is important to all the electrical devices in your RV. Let me start by saying not all RV parks have great electrical service for you to plug into. One danger is that low voltage can cause damage to your electrical devices (TVs, microwaves, computers…). The Hughes Autoformer “boosts” the volts that come into your coach and help prevent damage from low voltage. The device also protects your RV from power surges.

The business is located in a small office in an industrial park in Anaheim. We actually pulled up to the back of the building first where they were servicing the Autoformers. The workers were very helpful and directed us to the front office. The lady in the front office was also very helpful. She transferred all the warranty information from the original owner over to us. The gentleman servicing our device brought it out back to figure out what was wrong. Everyone was extremely polite and helpful. It took about 1.5 hours to completely fix our Autoformer and the price was extremely reasonable. They essentially refurbished the device with a new plug, boards and relays. They replaced the cover, gave us an updated instruction manual and a new digital AC volt meter. We were both very impressed by the level of professionalism and courtesy shown to us by this company. I would not hesitate to recommend them or their product. Our newly refurbished Autoformer is working like a charm now. They guaranteed their servicing and told us to give them a call if things did not work well once we returned to the RV.
